Billy

Billy is a thoughtful and dedicated piano teacher who works with both children and adults, from complete beginners to more advanced students looking to refine their playing. He takes time to understand how each student learns, adjusting his approach to suit their personality and pace. His lessons are focused and supportive, helping students grow in confidence while developing a genuine enjoyment of music.

Billy’s musical training has given him a solid foundation and a thoughtful approach to teaching. Having started the piano at the age of four, he was awarded a place to study at The Purcell School of Music on scholarship with Danielle Salamon, and later completed a BMus degree in Piano Performance with Honours at Europe’s leading conservatoire, the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He is now continuing his studies with a Master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music under Mei-Ting Sun.

His training has given him a deep understanding of piano technique and repertoire, which he uses to help students build secure foundations at the instrument. Lessons are structured carefully, providing clear guidance while remaining flexible enough to meet each student’s individual needs and interests. Whether you’re taking your first steps on the piano, working through Czerny exercises, or tackling more advanced pieces like the Chopin Études, Billy will work carefully to help you build the technique and confidence you need every step of the way. He works thoughtfully with each student to develop control and musical expression in a way that feels fluid and natural.

Alongside his studies, Billy is an active performer on the London scene and has appeared in venues including St Martin-in-the-Fields and the Purcell Room. He has also taken part in competitions, festivals, and masterclasses with internationally recognised pianists.

Billy believes that good teaching balances structure with encouragement, helping students feel supported while steadily extending their skills. Students at all levels benefit from his careful guidance and leave lessons feeling inspired and motivated to explore the piano further. Informed by his extensive background in music, having trained under some of the UK’s leading pianists, Billy is a great choice for students looking to build their piano skills and benefit from a thoughtful, creative approach to teaching.
