"I started lessons with Sarah rather late in life, when I was 81. I
imagined that I was taking on a mammoth task – learning to play the
clarinet. So, for the past three years I have had weekly clarinet
lessons and I am also learning to become a musician – something that has
come as a surprise to me. The result of this is that it is no longer a
mammoth task. It has become a very enjoyable hobby and I am making much
more progress than I had expected.
I now enjoy listening to music to a greater extent than I have in the
past. I have found that Sarah is very sympathetic to my strengths and
weaknesses and changes the lesson structure periodically as my progress
and needs change. I hope soon to be able to reach my initial ambition -

"Sarah taught me for many years and is the reason I was able to achieve grade 8 clarinet with distinction.
Sarah was recommended to me by a friend as I was not happy with the teacher I had before her. I had lost some of my love for music and my confidence had taken a huge hit.
Sarah transformed the way I practised- I learned crucial technical and performance skills that have carried me through the years, not only in clarinet but in singing and piano, too. I never thought I’d be able to improvise or sight read (let alone enjoy it!) but it’s safe to say that Sarah’s passion for music is so contagious that any challenge feels attainable when you’re learning with her.
I’ve had so many experiences with music teachers over the years. It is without a doubt that I can say Sarah is by far the best teacher out there. She cares so much about her students and their success and is determined to teach to the highest standard whilst making sure her pupils have fun. It is difficult to strike a balance between building a solid foundation of music theory as well as simultaneously learning to find your own sound and let your creativity take over. Sarah knows exactly how to foster an environment that gets students top results whilst building their confidence and love for music. I am most of all grateful for her belief in me. I never thought I could get a distinction, but Sarah worked relentlessly to make me see that anything is possible with the right support.
Having met some of her other pupils, it is clear that my experience with her was not unique. Everyone that has had the pleasure of meeting Sarah will know that she is a wonderful teacher and friend and anyone would be lucky to have her. “My son Joe (9 years old) has been learning the drums with Riccardo for months now, and we could not have a better teacher! Riccardo is very clear, calm and student focus which is exactly what Joe needs. He does not only focus on the technique but also on the feel of the instrument, the posture and the music taste of the student. He is always so patient and positive!
Riccardo is very proficient and versatile and teaches Joe to play different styles, which he can bring home to play with his brother who plays guitar. Joe has improved a lot and corrected embedded mistakes he developed from learning on his own before joining Make More Music.
It is hard to find a good music teacher, and Riccardo has exceeded my expectations. He is a professional Jazz player and has a tracker record of teaching at very high level too. Riccardo’s enthusiasm for drumming really transpires through each lesson and is an inspiration for Joe. He is also very reliable and responsive, which is great for parents! I could not recommend Riccardo enough!”
