Take your piano playing to the next level with Hannah, an accomplished performer and teacher. She offers inspiring, tailored lessons that combine technical precision, creative insight, and a deep understanding of music, helping students achieve their goals and enjoy every step of their musical journey. Hannah teaches students of all ages, though her extensive experience and advanced training make her particularly well-suited to those at Grade 5 and above, or anyone seeking a more nuanced approach to piano playing.

Hannah is an accomplished pianist and teacher, combining performance excellence with academic insight and a broad cultural perspective. She trained at Chetham’s School of Music before completing a First Class Honours degree in Classical Piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Alongside her musical studies, she pursued a Master’s degree at Oxford and a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Birmingham, reflecting her deep engagement with both the arts and ideas.

Most recently, Hannah served as Course Unit Director in the Department of Music at the University of Manchester, teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is also a Fellow of the Advance HE (FHEA), demonstrating her commitment to high-quality teaching and education.

With over a decade of experience teaching piano and music theory, Hannah has worked with students of all ages. She covers ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses up to Grade 8 and is happy to teach at diploma level. She ensures each student progresses at their own pace, covering foundational skills as well as more advanced techniques, and tailors material to their personal interests so that lessons are engaging and rewarding.

Hannah’s performance experience is extensive. She has appeared as a soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician at venues including St John’s Smith Square, Milton Court Concert Hall, Saffron Hall, and Bridgewater Hall, as well as in festivals and concerts internationally. These experiences enrich her teaching, helping students develop musicality, confidence, and a sense of artistry alongside technical skills.

Her background in literature and philosophy adds a distinctive perspective to her teaching. Hannah encourages students to see music as a form of expression and connection, not just as notes on a page. She integrates cultural, historical, and creative insights into lessons, helping students engage deeply with the music they play.

Whether students are preparing for exams, working towards performance opportunities, or simply learning for personal enjoyment, Hannah provides an inspiring, supportive, and thoughtful learning environment.
