Stan is a dedicated and versatile musician with a deep grounding in jazz and an instinctive feel for helping students grow in ways that feel personal and creative. His first study is guitar, but he is equally comfortable teaching piano, bass, ukulele and voice. He works with students of all ages — from complete beginners discovering their first notes to more experienced players developing their style, confidence and musical identity.
With a First-Class Honours degree in Jazz Performance from the Royal Academy of Music, and regular performances at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, the Vortex, Green Note and Karamel N22, Stan brings a wonderful balance of professionalism, warmth and musical imagination to his lessons. His background in composition and ensemble playing also shapes his approach, helping students explore harmony, improvisation and expressive performance in a way that feels accessible and enjoyable.
Teaching experience:
Stan has been teaching for several years, combining private one-to-one lessons with work in a range of London music settings where he has taught both individuals and groups. He has led band workshops, supported ensemble playing, and helped students prepare for performances across different styles.
He teaches guitar from beginner to advanced, and offers piano lessons for beginners and singers wanting to learn self-accompaniment. He also teaches beginner to intermediate voice, working with students on vocal technique, interpretation, repertoire and improvisation, and teaches comfortably in both English and Spanish.
Performance & creative work:
Alongside teaching, Stan is an active performer in the UK jazz scene and has composed original music for ensembles ranging from small groups to big band. He has been mentored by Pete Churchill and Will Vinson, influences that continue to shape his approach to harmony, improvisation and ensemble musicianship.
He is a recipient of the Richard Turner Award and was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music.
Stan helps students feel supported while exploring their creativity. Each lesson is shaped around the student — focusing on improvisation, songwriting, technique, confidence, or simply finding joy in their practice. From complete beginners to those returning to music or developing their own artistic voice, his lessons offer a space to grow, connect with others, and enjoy making music in a way that feels engaging and inspiring.
