Amelia

Amelia is an experienced trumpet teacher and performer who teaches students from complete beginners through to advanced players. Her teaching is friendly, adaptable and individually tailored, with a particular focus on helping pupils develop strong technique, confidence and an enjoyment of playing.

Amelia is currently in her final year at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, having previously studied at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music. She has around seven years’ teaching experience and has taught both individual pupils and small groups in schools, as well as leading group music sessions for younger children through Mini Mozart. She has experience preparing pupils for ABRSM examinations, including both in-person and online exams.

She believes that every student learns differently and enjoys finding creative ways to explain musical concepts and develop technique. As part of her training at Guildhall, she has developed her understanding of teaching and pedagogy, including exploring how fundamental trumpet technique can be approached in different ways to suit individual pupils. She aims to make lessons engaging and accessible, adapting exercises and explanations to help each student make progress in a way that works for them, and can teach in a range of musical styles, including classical, jazz and musical theatre.

Alongside teaching, Amelia performs regularly with the All Souls Orchestra and has performed with a range of other ensembles, including the National Youth Orchestra, Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, Willow Orchestra and the University of London Orchestra.

Whether a student is picking up the trumpet for the first time, working towards an exam or simply wanting to become a more confident player, Amelia aims to make lessons enjoyable and encouraging while helping each student develop solid technique, musicality and a genuine enjoyment of playing.
