Pete

Pete is a London-based pianist, guitarist, and composer with over 20 years of experience in both performing and teaching. He has a BMus (Hons) in Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music and a rich career as a film, television, and media composer, with his music featured on major platforms including Netflix, BBC, Amazon, Disney, Apple TV, ITV, Channel 4, and The History Channel.

Pete’s goal as a teacher is to inspire students to develop a lasting relationship with music — whether that’s through their instrument, composing, or discovering their own voice. He believes inspiration leads to more playing, which in turn brings both joy and skill. His lessons balance solid technical foundations with space for creativity, encouraging students to explore not just how to play, but also how to express themselves through music. He brings a flexible and imaginative approach to improvisation and composition, helping students of all levels develop their own musical ideas and confidence.

Pete teaches piano from beginner to advanced, covering ABRSM Classical Grades 1–8, Jazz Grades, Rock School, and Theory. He also offers improvisation, songwriting, and composition. With extensive experience supporting students through GCSE and A-level composition, Pete helps learners deepen their understanding of analysis, performance, and composition. He draws on his broad professional background to provide lessons that are both practical and inspiring, tailored to the individual goals and interests of each student.

As an active professional musician, Pete regularly performs in both studio and live settings, bringing a wealth of real-world experience to his teaching. He has composed award-winning scores for short films, trailers, and commercials, with his work published by leading production music libraries and featured internationally. He has collaborated closely with acclaimed actors and directors on film projects, including providing music for Netflix’s Mowgli, and has contributed session work on piano and keyboards for recordings including George Michael’s Patience album. Pete works across many genres — from classical and jazz to popular and contemporary media music — giving students a real-world perspective on how music connects across styles and contexts.
