Ross is a highly experienced musician and teacher who has been helping students find their voice in music for over 25 years. His students have gone on to study at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, gain top grades in Classical and Rock & Pop exams, and even achieve UK Number 1 albums. Others come to him for the simple joy of learning — whether they’re young children just starting out, teenagers looking to create and release their own music, or adults returning to an instrument after time away.
Ross teaches electric, acoustic, and classical guitar, as well as bass, ukulele, music theory, music production, and GCSE music. He supports students through graded exams (up to Grade 8 and beyond) across Trinity and RSL, and is experienced in teaching all ages and levels. Lessons are shaped around each individual — from playing and improvising to songwriting, recording, and developing original projects.
He works from a well-equipped home studio and regularly helps students produce their own music — supporting everything from first recordings and demo tracks to more polished releases. He also advises students involved in bands or collaborative projects, and offers thoughtful, flexible guidance for those interested in exploring music more deeply or sharing it more widely.
Ross’s teaching is rooted in his own broad experience as a performer, songwriter, and producer. Since the early 2000s, he has worked full-time as a teacher and mentor, creating a space where technical progress and creative expression go hand in hand. He is dedicated to the promotion, support and development of creative talents at every stage.
Ross holds a current enhanced DBS certificate and regularly teaches children, adults, and vulnerable learners. He also volunteers with Age UK and the charity Sporting Bears, which ensures his DBS is regularly updated and renewed.
