Sonny is a creative and versatile saxophonist, composer, and teacher from London, with a strong foundation in jazz and a passion for improvisation. A graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire, he plays regularly across London with a wide variety of musicians and developed the flexible, person-centred approach that now shapes his teaching.
He performs regularly across the UK and Europe in styles ranging from classic jazz to contemporary and experimental music, and he has composed original scores for several short films.
Sonny teaches students of all ages and levels, both privately and in group settings. Lessons take place in a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere where each learner can explore music in a way that feels natural. While his roots are in jazz, he also welcomes students interested in styles such as pop, funk, Latin, and rock. He focuses on improvisation to help students build a personal connection with music, while also providing a solid grounding in saxophone technique, repertoire, and theory.
Sonny also plays the piano and often uses it in lessons to make things more fun and interactive—whether that’s jamming along with chords while a student improvises or helping to support ear training and musical understanding in a more hands-on way.
Whether you’re preparing for ABRSM Jazz exams, learning your favourite tunes, or simply exploring your sound, Sonny tailors every lesson to your interests and goals.
