Ashley is a well established teacher, performer and composer, with over 13 years experience working in London, Birmingham and Paris. He is a graduate from the Royal Academy of Music (Masters - Jazz Performance,) Birmingham Conservatoire (honours) and Junior Guildhall.He has studied with some of the leading saxophonists and jazz musicians in the UK and the USA, and has drawn from this training to develop his own approach to teaching. Students learn to develop their own musical voice, whilst building a solid technique and firm foundation of musicianship.
Ashley has been teaching privately and in schools (Birmingham, Paris, London) for a number of years now. He teaches both the Trinity and ABRSM exam syllabuses (Classical and Jazz) and has a 100% pass rate (with most students being awarded either Merits or Distinctions) He is able to teach both classical and jazz, but specialises in jazz and contemporary music. He has extensive knowledge in harmony, theory, composition, improvisation and aural training.
